The purpose of a Medicare Advantage plan is to diminish the risk associated with Medicare alone.  The purpose of a Prescription  Drug plan is to diminish the risk associated with expensive prescriptions.

• It’s acceptable to have a Medicare Advantage plan with built-in Prescription Drug coverage.
• It’s impossible to have Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage.  They are separate and different ways of receiving Medicare benefits.
• It’s improper to have a Medicare Advantage plan and a Medicare Supplement policy.  Medicare Supplement insurance companies cannot process the claims of people enrolled in Medicare Advantage.
• A Medicare Advantage plan might be a viable alternative to Original Medicare and Medicare Supplement insurance, because Advantage plans can be very inexpensive, sometimes costing $0 per month.  Perform a thorough comparison prior to joining.
• If you purchase a Medicare Plan from us, we’re happy to evaluate it every fall, because Medicare Plans change and so does your personal situation.
• This general overview does not guarantee anything about any Medicare Plan you purchase.
• Prior to applying for a Medicare Plan, carefully read consumer brochures, outlines of coverage, illustrations, and sample policies (if any), available from the insurance company.  There is no substitute for documentation from the insurance company.
• Claims approval and payment is subject to reports from healthcare professionals and others, the features and requirements of the insurance policy, insurance company rules, and governmental regulations.  Read your policy as soon as you receive it.  Ask questions and if you’re dissatisfied promptly cancel the policy before the deadline expires.
